Job Description

Provide hands-on experience in 3D modeling, product design workflows, 3D printing technology, and the integration of these concepts for real-world problem-solving.

Job Responsibilities

  • Master the basics of leading 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360) through intensive tutorials.
  • Understand and apply design principles specifically for 3D printing, including considerations for overhangs, tolerances, and support structures.
  • Engage in lectures on Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) and optimize 3D models for printing.
  • Get acquainted with various 3D printer types and technologies (FDM, SLA).
  • Operate slicer software (Cura, PrusaSlicer) and gain hands-on experience in setting up, calibrating, and operating 3D printers.
  • Troubleshoot common 3D printing issues and perform post-processing techniques such as support removal and finishing.
  • Define a mechanical design problem and apply iterative design and prototyping techniques to solve it.
  • Conduct rapid prototyping by printing, testing, and refining design iterations.
  • Understand material properties and considerations for 3D printing.
  • Test and evaluate the final prototype, document the design process, and present project outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering or related degree program.
  • Basic understanding of CAD software and 3D printing concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
