Job Description

Expose students to real-world aspects of network infrastructure, electrical systems, IoT devices, and smart home project execution.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in foundational refresher sessions on electrical, networking, and IoT concepts.
  • Engage in safety workshops focused on electrical and network systems.
  • Learn and practice setting up basic IoT devices, including understanding their protocols and connectivity.
  • Conduct network cabling, configuration, and security audits of home networks.
  • Map electrical circuits and analyze appliance power usage.
  • Practice troubleshooting using electrical and network diagnostic tools.
  • Integrate IoT devices into home networks and understand home automation hubs and IoT platforms.
  • Design and implement a small-scale smart home solution, collaborating across networking and electrical domains.
  • Develop network topologies for device connectivity and communication.
  • Set up wiring, sensors, and electrical controls for smart devices.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and document integrated smart home systems.
  • Present project outcomes, demonstrating the functionalities and explaining the process and challenges faced.

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in an Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Networking, or related degree program.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, networking protocols, and IoT concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to participate in group discussions and presentations.
  • Availability to commit to the 4-week program, with the possibility of an optional 4-week extension.
